“So I just can't say enough about our stay at Giethoorn Lodge. There was 4 of us in our group and the home was a perfect size for us. We chose Giethoorn on a fluke before doing a river cruise from Amsterdam, and we are so glad we did. The village is as cute as can be. Bert and Marie are perfect hosts and made us feel very comfortable about being in their world. We actually got to spend some personal time with them and very much enjoyed it. We live in California and we all travel quite often, we all agree that this was one of our best experiences....ever.”

“My family and I (4 of us) spent 2 nights in Bert and Marie's lovely lodge. The experience we had was absolutely amazing, and we wish we could stay longer. The lodge was big enough for 4 of us, very comfortable and clean. It was beautifully decorated inside out with a hint of traditional Dutch style. We arrived at the train station quiet late, and there weren't any buses running as most of the businesses closes around 7pm. Bert was super kind that he drove all the way to the station to pick us up! He even made the reservation with the restaurant nearby to make sure they don't close before we arrive. There are bikes and boats available for renting (hand rowing boats are free to use). Bert and Marie gave us lots of tips for exploring Giethoorn village from different angles. We received eggs and honey from Bert and Marie's own farm as gifts. They are so warm and thoughtful, they can't be better hosts. We really enjoyed our stay.”

“It was amazing home but there is very bad smell when we enter the home”

“We were a party of 5 including 2 kids, spending 5 days at the Giethoorn lodge last Summer. We had a memorable and everlasting memory. Bert and his wife Marie were courteous, polite and helpful. The lodge is well equipped. It includes a fitted kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a lounge and an outside table with a parasol where you can have your breakfast by the canal. The lounge has also a sauna facility. Bert a very patient gentleman,  taught us how to ride the boat and soon we were on the lakes and canals surrounding the famous Giethoorn. Bert and Marie rented us their boat for a meagre amount of money and a full tank of gasoline every morning before we adventure in the lakes and canals. Bert and Marie treated us with fresh local honey and beautiful flowers. A private parking is available. Bikes are available for hiring. We had free kayaks for use. If you need to buy food , Spark is only 10 minutes drive away to the centre. The property is well maintained. We had such a lovely reminiscence that we are returning this Summer.
